Disney Hollywood Studios

Torrential rainstorm today!

We didn't end up driving over to Disney Hollywood Studios until four or so, and (despite the rain) they had completely run out of Fastpasses by the time we made it  to the park. So, we had to say goodbye to our sweet Fastpass system. Without it, it wasn't quite as much fun as the day before where we got to ride tons of rides without any sort of wait. Sadly, we had to fight it out with the other chumps in the stand-by lines.

Lines were long inside the park, so we only ended up doing a couple of things. We saw the 3-D Muppet Movie (cute), rode Star Tours (motion sickness a-go-go), and took a spin the Great Movie Ride. Jo loved The Great Movie Ride, but Frankie deemed it "kind of very boring." Not surprising, since the "ride" is essentially a slow-moving tram ride through a bunch of sets for movies she's neither seen nor heard of. Matt got a chance to ride Tower of Terror, since a kindly teen decided to bequeath his unused fast pass on us as he was leaving the park. Matt said it was pretty exciting. It's supposed to mimic a broken elevator... At one point, the ride plunges down twelve stories. (Probably nothing compared to jumping out of an airplane, but still...)

We caught the 9pm "Fantasmic" show, which I thought was pretty darn cool, but surprisingly scary for the under 10 crowd (at least by Disney standards). It was a live show that was supposed to reflect Mickey's imagination, both his inspiration and his nightmares. Water effects, a lake that turns into fire, live performers, fireworks, fire breathing dragons...They really pulled out all of the stops. Frankie loved it. By the end of the show, though, we were all pretty beat. It was fun, and I'm glad we got a chance to go. Still... I might be starting to experience T.P.F. (Theme Park Fatigue). I think we're going to opt for a lazy morning tomorrow.

Tower of Terror

Weird side note: As we were waiting for the evening "Fantasmic" show we saw  lady fall down a small set of stairs and break her ankle. Or, at least that's what said while screaming for paramedics...Also, her leg was all floppy at the bottom like a bendy straw.Yikes!

Oh.. Also, the people next to us at the Muppet 3-D movie were actually attempting to use their cameras to take flash pictures of the 3D effects in the movie. Stop the madness, people! Put down your cameras!!
